Vision

Loving…Teaching…Reaching

The Word of God tells us in Proverbs 29:18 “where there is no vision, the people perish.”

It is so important to have vision and direction for the future.  This is vital in the life of a believer and in the life of a church family.

God has put Long Leaf Baptist Church as a resource right here at 317 Shipyard Blvd.  We as a body of believers must have a vision for how we can best bring honor and glory to Him.

Our vision, here at Long Leaf Baptist to be a church family that is Loving…Teaching…Reaching.

This vision is rooted in two passages of Scripture in the Word of God.

As a church family we strive to ensure our ministries, activities and lives reflect these three areas.

Matthew 22:36-39 the Scripture says:

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Part of what we are about here at Long Leaf Baptist is to be a Loving people.

We are to first and foremost love the Lord, and out of our love for the Lord we should be a people that love others.

We want to challenge ourselves and ask, how am I doing with this in my life?

Am I loving the Lord with all my heart? Further am I sharing the love of Christ with others.  We also want to be a people that love both on people in our church family and outside of the church walls.

Matthew 28:19-20 the Scripture says

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Here in this passage we are reminded that we are to also be a Teaching and Reaching people.

Part of the way we fulfill the Lord’s command of making disciples is by teaching the Word of God.  All of us have varying gifts but as we pour into the Word of God and draw closer to the Lord we will be better equipped to teach and disciple the lost, new disciples and fellow believers.  We want to be a people that are digging into the Word of God ready to teach and disciple.

We also fulfill the Lord’s command of making disciples by doing the “Go” part of the great commission.  Part of what we are about is to be a “Reaching” people.  We want to be a people that are focused on reaching the lost.  We must minister to our body of believers but we also must “reach” outside the church walls.
